Preface

This book is an introduction to philosophy through science fiction literature. It is a book written for persons who have not been exposed to philosophical literature or study. In other words, it is for beginners. Having said that, though the book is for beginners, there are complicated concepts involved which do not lend themselves to easy reading, as it were. Nevertheless, since we are all beginners at philosophy, if the reader will but stick the course in spite of the deficiencies of the text, the going may prove to be worthwhile. Those of you who have happened upon the text by accident or surfing, I hope that you will enjoy and benefit from the material. To everyone, I hope that you will find something that you may be looking for.
